The Da Vinci Code...Invading the culture?

Whirlwind from Cannes to LA to Hong Kong. Per-plunking from top o' the box office to just about the same level as Over the Hedge, the notorious (or notoriously cheesy?) Da Vinci Code film dished up for us by Ron and Tom seems to be fading from the lime-light. Well, not too sure about that but only time will tell.

Despite the terribly awful (at times, biting and harsh) reviews from our friends at Cannes, people still obediently stand in line at the local Regal to get their ticket to see a bunch of "hooey" (as Tom Hanks referred to it).

More about the DVC later... Multiple blogs, sites and articles floating around the web are devoted to this scintillating topic. More specifically, the 'dupification' of the American mind. No joke. Here's an excellent site to look the DVC in the face with a light-hearted approach.

AWESOME link--thanks for that. Just took a look at it, lots of hoopla going on there. Sheesh, one post got like 200+ comments. There's a lot of commotion about the film not being like the book also... well, who knows what's in the mind of Dan, I mean, mind of man. :) Cheer-o!

For me, the height of silliness was a magazine at the supermarket check out stand that proclaimed the "DaVinci Code Diet"!!!!

Well, I like the way that "Anonymous" voices his opinion behind such a confident blogger name. No offense, but it's easier to be NASTY when people don't know you... And just so you know, it may be fiction but that doesn't entitle it to traipse about doing the shenanigans it does. Bunch of crap that it is.

The Da Vinci Code's been an interesting phenomenon to watch because it really just shows how people have no grasp of reaity, history, art history, philosophy....hey, the whole spectrum of what we used to call Western Civilization. But Oops! that's a bad word nowadays, right? We don't even know enough about our own culture to make some kind of objective judgment but we go around poking fun at it, or even worse, exhibiting our enormous ignorance... a la mr. Brown! Poor ignorant ass.

Dear "catherine of siena",

Sorry, but I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I have not seen and don't intend to see either DVC or Over the Hedge. I have a feeling you're mixing me with someone else (?).

Cheers.

Also, regarding "smoke" entering the church. Where's there's smoke there's fire. So you're right there: the fire of the Holy Spirit enkindles everything in the Church it touches. Don't worry too much about that: "be not afraid, for I am with you always until the end of the age." We have his word for it, you know. Peace.

HAHAHA
The Da Vinci code was a joke.

Nobody cares about it, flash in the pan. It was some shit book that the vast masses of mediocrity ate up. Now it's gone. haha, it wasn't worth much consideration for us anyways.

BTW,
Why make this a public blog? You get weirdos coming in here.

U owe me piano lessons ;)

Haha this was so long ago, I forgot about all these comments. I especially like "stuckwidiot2" (a propos name) and her personal attacks. And since she mentions that "Over the Hedge" movie (which I never endorsed), I'm pretty sure I know who she is. She's from another blog which mentions the Da Vinci Code. Seems like a split personality for she would never say what she says here, at the other blog.

A pity. The truth will set you free: you should not change like a chamelon depending on where you happen to be. I'm sorry for such cowards.
